Food

playgroupspr2012 299Playgroup provides a healthy range of snacks throughout the session, prepared by a member of staff and a small group of children. Children choose when to have their snack, selecting from a range of fresh fruit or vegetables, cereal, toast or crackers with a choice of milk or water to drink.

Children are encouraged to serve themselves, including the pouring of drinks.  This helps promote their independence and improves their skills and confidence. Sharing snack together promotes children’s social skills and encourages them to make healthy choices.

Children staying for a full day receive a hot meal made on the premises by our cook.  Again, these are healthy, balanced and nutritious meals, often organically sourced from our cook’s garden.

All meals are served with a choice of milk or water. We often celebrate special times of the year, such as Christmas, Chinese New Year, Easter and Harvest for example, with a special cooked lunch and parents are encouraged to join us.
